I glance at the coffee before me, and there it is!
Amid the bitter coffee and sweet cream,
A graceful and gentle swirl.
And in the cup nestled in my palms,
Poetry ignites with the warmth it shares,
A reminder to all that is good.
A smile is a colorful dress that happiness puts on your face,
A laughter, a bedding to the cold and weary heart.
For the vivacity in your eyes is as precious as the finest crystal.
So seek thou merriment as the day is young and the sea is vast,
For happiness is a choice, unbound by reason.
Friends—precious and beloved,
Stood by us in our march towards our holy grail;
The open ears, eager to listen to our passion and tale,
This loving care that’s shared to others is what connects us together,
When we put aside our differences.
So be someone’s umbrella during their downpour.
Though one might find themselves with nobody,
Solitude is not always lonely,
But time of peace and reflection,
For a window opens to be silent and observe;
Reveals patience as a foundation of great things;
Uncover one’s hubris, that they continue to be larger than life.
All these good things are what remind me to keep going.
Come what may, there will be a blessing,
Like how we can enjoy poetry and coffee together,
And remind ourselves all that is good.
